What drives us?

We want to take care of the carers. For this reason, the Fundació offers temporary accommodation to caregivers of sick people who have travelled more than 50km to Barcelona to be treated for a serious illness.

In this way, when families do not have the financial resources to be able to afford the stay, the Fundació offers them a home, shared with another family in the same situation, well communicated with the hospital of reference.

We offer three types of accommodation depending on the duration of stay of the caregiver and the patient: accommodation in our Lodgings, with a Friendly Family or in a Partner hotel.

Lodging Programme

We have well-connected, fully equipped flats, which we offer to the families at a symbolic cost: €10 a day for the first month, reduced to €5 a day if the month is extended. Families living on an allowance will pay €1 a day. Each flat is generally shared by two families.

To date, we have 11 flats located in Barcelona, Badalona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.

Friendly Family Programme

The Friendly Family project was born of the need to expand the FJF’s offer of homes for displaced patients. It relies on families in the city who, aware of the organisation’s mission, offer a room in their home for short stays.

We count on the collaboration of 7 friendly families, 5 of which are in Barcelona, 1 in Sant Just Desvern and 1 in Sant Cugat del Vallès.

Short-term stays in partner hotels

Many of our host families often have to return for second visits or check-ups. And they often call us to ask for accommodation for short stays. In these cases, we accommodate them in hotels with which we have signed an agreement:

These are: Hotel Villa Emilia (since 2008) Grupo Atiram (since 2013) and Catalonia Hotels & Resorts (since 2014).
